On Farm Training for Kusur village farmers

Kusur gaon consists of about 500 farm families, including 10 scheduled cast and 20 tribal families. Majority of the farmers (nearly 50 %) in the village are small holders with ≤ 2.0 ac land holding, 30 per cent of farm families have 2.5 – 5.0 ac. and 10 per cent farm families have > 5.0 ac. land holding.

Kusur village has 1090 ha total area, out of which 750 ha is under cultivation with 80 per cent cropping intensity. Eighty per cent of the area is under assured irrigation and 20 per cent is rainfed land.

During kharif season farmers cultivate mainly marigold, soybean, China aster, chrysanthemum, annual chrysanthemum, tomato. During rabi season onion, China Aster, annual chrysanthemum, marigold, French bean, wheat, gram are cultivated. During summer season tomato, marigold and China Aster are grown.

On-farm demonstration on insect pests and diseases affecting marigold, chrysanthemum, annual chrysanthemum and brinjal and advisory on package of practice for marigold, chrysanthemum, management of phytoplasma diseases in horticultural crops were conducted during the year 2015 – 16. Also seeds of marigold varieties Pusa Nagangi Gainda, Pusa Basanti Gainda and Pusa Arpita were distributed to the farmers.
